Welcome to Orion Weather
Orion weather was started in 2004 as an outlet for my interest in the weather, particularly tropical storms and hurricanes. It moved to the current server in 2006. Since then it has evolved into a gallery of my weather photography and videos, a database of atlantic basin hurricanes from 1900 up to the present with an interactive plotter, a collection of tropical weather information, and a place to give my own insights on the weather. Disclaimer: All of the raw weather data and feeds used on orion weather are derived from official sources and come from various university and NWS/NOAA servers. The data feeds processed by GRlevel3 are provided to orion weather by AllisonHouse NexRad Services.
The custom weather graphics found on orion weather are created with GRlevel3, Global Tracks, and Digital Atmosphere. Graphics are constantly updated 24 hours a day. GRlevel3 radar images are updated about every 5 minutes.However, there may be times when these images are not current - power failure, server issues, etc. Please check dates and timestamps printed on graphic products to be sure they are current. Orion weather is not an official weather provider. For official weather information, please refer to the National Weather Service.
